Northern Ireland Conflict: Catholics and Protestants
Debate:
Should the Catholics be free from the UK and be like the Irish Free States or should they stay under the rule of the UK and remain loyal to the UK like the Protestants?

The catholics want to be free from UK because they are tired of the treatments that they have been receiving. For example, back then in Northern Ireland, a single protestant woman would be taken in instead of the single catholic mother that had eight children.

Diplomacy:
The catholics tried to make an agreement with the UK to let them go but they still wanted Northern Ireland to be ruled by the them.

Example of a success: The Good Friday Agreement, also called the Belfast Agreement
Example of a failure: Bobby Sands and the hunger strike

President Clinton tried to form peace between the two sides and an agreement was made that came to be known as "Good Friday" in 1998.
